Appreciating the structural integrity of your pool and spa is crucial. Did you know that a typical full-sized pool can hold between 18,000 and 30,000 gallons of water? At 8.34 pounds per gallon, this translates to an immense pressure of 150,000 to 250,000 pounds pushing against the pool’s walls and floor.
Simultaneously, the surrounding earth exerts its own pressure, ranging from 80 to 140 pounds per cubic foot depending on soil type and moisture content. These powerful forces constantly work against your pool’s structure.
This is why proper engineering and the strength of the pool’s concrete, reinforced with steel (rebar), are paramount. Think of the rebar as the pool’s bones, providing the essential stability to withstand these natural forces, governed by physics.
Why do we exceed the minimum? We are committed to building pools and spas with the strongest possible “bones,” minimizing the potential for concrete cracks and weaknesses that can occur over time. We confidently guarantee your pool and spa against significant structural concrete cracks for as long as you own the property (this warranty is non-transferable to new owners).
Please note that unique property conditions, such as challenging soil compositions (identified through soil samples), properties on steep slopes or cliff edges, or other unusual site characteristics, may necessitate additional engineering and reinforcement measures, which will be clearly outlined in your project proposal.
